Awards nomination for NMD Building Control team
North Devon and Mid Devon District Council's joint building control team has been nominated by their customers for a prestigious national award.
NMD Building Control is proud to be in the running for the category of Building Control Team of the Year in the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Building Excellence Awards.
LABC represents all local authority building control teams in England and Wales and works with home owners, architects and builders to ensure buildings are safe and meet all the standards set by the Building Regulations. The LABC has a network of more than 3,700 professional surveyors and also advises on public safety and consumer protection.
The Building Excellence Awards will recognise individual contributions and partnerships that go the extra mile to ensure projects are built safely and comply with the building regulations. The NMD Building Control team were recently notified that they were in the running for an award in the category of Team of the Year, which is a new category for 2021, and are now waiting to find out from LABC whether they have been shortlisted.
Chair of the North and Mid Devon Building Control Partnership Committee and North Devon Council District Councillor, Jeremy Yabsley said:
“I am very proud that our partnership building control team has been nominated by our customers for the Building Control Team of the Year award. Recognition from those we serve is always welcome and this news will undoubtedly give our team a great boost, and is recognition they fully deserve.”
Councillor Richard Chesterton, Mid Devon District Council Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Regeneration said:
“The teamwork between both councils has really helped us focus on our customers and supporting them through the build process. Our customers are at the heart of what we do and for them to recognise our efforts by nominating us for this award makes this even more satisfying.”
In previous years shortlisted entries would be invited to attend the regional awards with the winners of each category qualifying for the grand finals. Due to Covid-19, the regional awards will not be held this year. Instead, one national award ceremony will be held on 28 January 2022, celebrating both people and places in the construction industry.
