The Chairman of Mid Devon District Council is supporting a national day to remember those who have died during the coronavirus pandemic and to show support for everyone who has been bereaved.

The National Day of Reflection will take place on Tuesday, March 23.

A minute's silence, at 12 midday and a national doorstep vigil, at 8.00pm, will form part of a day of reflection to mark the anniversary of the UK’s first Covid lockdown, when those who have died in the pandemic will be remembered.

The campaign is spearheaded by end of life charity Marie Curie and the day will give communities a moment to remember, grieve and celebrate anyone who has died during this time and show support for those who are grieving.

Marie Curie chief executive Matthew Reed said:

'It is important that we all come together to reflect on our collective loss, celebrate the lives of the special people no longer here, support those who've been bereaved and look towards a much brighter future.’
