Tiverton Pannier Market is looking for a quality individual or business to run its in-house café and join the drive to revitalise the historic venue.

The market enjoyed another year of renewal and success in 2022, recruiting lots of new traders, hosting around 45 events, strengthening links with the local community and boosting its reputation as a go-to destination in Mid Devon.

It is now looking to push on in 2023, with the new café operator playing a key role.

Jim Bray, market manager, said:

“The café is a vital part of the market and a hub of the local community that can benefit from guaranteed footfall while helping us to increase visitor numbers.
“We’re keen to work closely with the new operator to build on our recent successes, including the consolidation of general markets and farmers markets, the much-anticipated return of Electric Nights street food evenings and the significant growth in other events.
“The market has been enhanced by new decor and regular live music as well as government funding for picnic tables, parasols, gazebos, heaters, ornamental trees and plants, which can only benefit the café.
“The operator can also take advantage of a town centre location with indoor and outdoor space, affordable rent, flexibility to open up to six days a week and further plans to enhance the market.”

For an application form or an informal chat, call Jim on 07815 791191 or e-mail him at jbray@middevon.gov.uk.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Saturday 28 January, with informal interviews planned for early February and the aim for the new operator to start in or before March.

The Lost Kitchen ran the café until December, when it took the decision to focus on its restaurant at Chettiscombe.

In January and February, visitors can enjoy a mix of food and drink at general markets on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

A number of local vendors and caterers are set to join the market on a rota basis, including Devon Food Co, The Box Circa 75, Shillings Burgers, The Coffee Rover and Chloe’s.
