Proposed Palmerston park play areaThe play area in Palmerston Park will be closed for approximately one month to allow contractors to carry out a make-over of the community space.

Mid Devon District Council is investing around £25,000 to fund the improvements, with the money coming from developer contributions.

All the existing equipment is due to be replaced and new fencing and rubber safety matting will be installed.

The new equipment from Sutcliffe Play South West includes a toddler swing, regular swing and a basket swing, as well as a four way seesaw, a back-to -back roundabout, and a multi play unit which incorporates a slide and climbing frame.

Cllr Luke Taylor, Cabinet Member for Environment, said:

“This is great news for the people of Palmerston Park. There is a lot of development work going on in the area and this will be another exciting addition to the work already completed at Palmerston Park. I am looking forward to seeing it take shape and welcoming people back to the park when it reopens.”

The park will be closed from Monday, 16 September for approximately four weeks.
