Public consultation opens for Tiverton’s Eastern Urban Extension
Mid Devon District Council has launched the next stage of consultation for Tiverton’s Eastern Urban Extension.
Members of the public are invited to share their views and have their say on the proposals during the consultation period which runs from 27 February to 9 April. The Council is also running a series of events in the area, when officers will be on hand to answer questions on the plans.
Councillor Graeme Barnell, Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration said:
“This consultation event provides a great opportunity for interested individuals, groups and organisations to make their comments known on how they would like to see the final area of land at the Tiverton Eastern Urban Extension to be developed, including the number of homes built, which areas should be built first and where areas of green open space should be located, used and managed. This is a fantastic opportunity for the public to influence how the future development of Tiverton looks.’’
A 153 hectare area of land to the east of Tiverton has already been allocated for development, as set out in the Tiverton Eastern Urban Extension Masterplan SPD, which was adopted in 2014 and later revised in 2018. Whilst this plan covers the whole of the site, it was not able to consider all of the site to the same degree of detail and an area of land to the southern side of Post Hill is now the subject of this further consultation.
The first consultation stage considered the scope of the masterplan and was carried out between June and July 2017. This second consultation stage will now consider the draft masterplan, having taken into consideration comments from stage one.
