Members of the public are invited to share their views and have their say on the proposals for Area B of the Tiverton Eastern Urban Extension.

The consultation period runs from 20 November 2024 to 10 January 2025, during which time the Council will be running a series of events where officers will be on hand to answer questions.

153 hectares of land to the east of Tiverton has already been allocated for development, as set out in the Tiverton Eastern Urban Extension Masterplan SPD, which was adopted in 2014 and later revised in 2018. Whilst the masterplan covers the whole of the site, it was not able to consider all of the site to the same degree of detail. An area of land to the southern side of Post Hill, Area B, is now the subject of this further consultation.

Two stages of public consultation have already been completed on Area B. Stage 1 was completed in 2017 and Stage 2 in 2020. However, adoption of the Area B Masterplan was postponed for the receipt of additional information. A developer has been working in collaboration with Mid Devon District Council and together have produced a new set of Stage 1 consultation material.

Councillor Steven Keable, Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Regeneration said:

“This consultation event provides a great opportunity for everyone interested to make their comments known on how they would like to see the final area of land at the Tiverton Eastern Urban Extension to be developed. People can feedback on a new vehicular junction from Post Hill, up to 10 new properties being accessed off Mayfair, where the sports pitches should be located, the overall look of the development, and more.

“This is an exciting opportunity for the public to influence how the future development of Tiverton looks.’’

Three staffed events are proposed where Officers will be present to answer any questions:

• Wednesday 20th November: 4pm - 7pm at Tiverton Golf Club, Post Hill, Tiverton. EX16 4NE
• Wednesday 27th November: 4pm – 7pm at the Exe Room, Phoenix House, Tiverton. EX16 6PP
• Friday 13th December: 10am – 12pm at the Exe Room, Phoenix House, Tiverton. EX16 6PP
