Successful revamp of Crediton’s tennis courts
Improvement work to enhance the existing tennis courts at Lords Meadow in Crediton has been completed on budget to the delight of users.
The Council invested in the region of £10,000 to improve access to the courts for other sports, with the improvement work making them multi-purpose for the use of netball as well as tennis.
The courts have been relined and painted, enabling both netball and tennis players to use the courts, which in turns has freed up space on the adjacent artificial turf pitches allowing more football sessions to take place. It also means the popular netball club now has a hard court facility for the first time in a number of years.
The courts were closed for approximately two weeks while the work was undertaken and, other than a short weather delay, were completed on time and on budget.
Director of Operations at Mid Devon District Council, Andrew Pritchard, said:
“The courts look great and it is good to see that Crediton now has a facility that is fit for purpose and can be used for multiple sports. I would like to thank the clubs who use the courts and pitches for working with us and for making sure this investment is a lasting success.”
To celebrate the opening of the improved facility the popular netball club held a mixed tournament at the new courts on Sunday 7 July. The event was a great success and details can be found on the Crediton & District Netball League Facebook page.
Crediton tennis Club is also planning an event with dates to be confirmed.
The courts are open to all and for booking information please call Lords Meadow Leisure Centre, 01884 234970.
