What is the Publication Scheme?

The Freedom of Information Act places a legal obligation on us to produce a Publication Scheme. The scheme is produced in line with the model publication scheme as recommended by the Information Commissioners Office.

In line with the scheme, we are committed to:

  • Proactively publish or otherwise make available as a matter of routine, information, including environmental information, which is held by the authority and falls within the classification below
  • Produce and publish the methods by which the specific information is made routinely available so that it can be easily identified and accessed by members of the public
  • Review and update on a regular basis the information the authority makes available under this scheme
  • Produce a schedule of any fees charged for access to information, which is made proactively available

Information about the services that the Council provides including leaflets, guidance and newsletters.

The method by which information under this scheme will be made available

The majority of information listed under the scheme is available on the Council's website. Where this is not the case a hard copy shall be made available on request.

Charges which may be made for information published under this scheme

Information that is available through the Council's website is available free of charge. Specific documents referred to in the publication scheme can be viewed by holding control on your keyboard and clicking on the document name. Hard copies of this information can be made available but may incur a charge to copy costs. Documents held in electronic form by the Council can be sent by email free of charge or a hard copy can be sent at the cost of copying the document. Where documents are only available to view by appointment there is no charge.

How do I make a written request?

Information held by Mid Devon District Council that is not published under this scheme can be requested in writing, when its disclosure will be considered under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.
