FIXED TERM: 6 MONTH CONTRACT
SALARY: £34,314 - £37,035 PER ANNUM 
LOCATION: TIVERTON 

We are seeking a motivated and proactive individual to join the team as Licensing Officer, for a temporary 6 month period. This is a full time position within our licensing function, and we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible. 

For the Specialist Officer role, you will need experience in dealing with a range of licensing functions. Previous experience of investigating complaints is essential, with a focus on Taxi related complaints and investigations. Experience with the application of PACE and RIPA would be desirable. 

You will provide advice and guidance to our customers and work with the lead officer to undertake enforcement activity. You will also need to help prepare papers for, and present to sub-committee hearings and deputise for the lead as required. 

You will be required to hold the Professional Licensing Practitioners Qualification, or equivalent, and the BTEC Level 3 Certificate for Animal Inspectors. Applications will be considered from individuals who do not hold the BTEC Level 3 Certificate for Animal Inspectors. 

You will carry a diverse case load, including a range of complaint investigations and deliver a programme of proactive inspections in a wide range of licenced premises, including, but not limited to, caravan sites, animal welfare establishments, gambling premises and licenced premises under the Licensing Act 2003. You will need to be able to demonstrate your ability to work independently to meet this requirement. 

The post will liaise with officers, Council Members, customers and other agencies directly. You will need effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritise. You will have a full driving licence and your own transport.  

You will also need the confidence to deal with sometimes challenging or difficult situations and to work effectively with other authorities and agencies. Computer literacy is essential and a working knowledge of IDOX Uniform and Lalpac Software, is desirable (though training can be provided).
