SALARY: £34,314 to £37,035
LOCATION: TIVERTON
We have a vacancy for a full time Compliance Officer to join our Planned Maintenance Team at our offices at Old Road.

As a Compliance Officer your duties will include but are not limited:
- To work as a Specialist Officer supporting the delivery of statutory duties connected with the housing functions of Mid Devon Housing.
- To respond to service requests/enquiries for housing and take appropriate action where necessary.
- To inspect dwellings to assess the condition using knowledge and experience of the Housing Health and Safety Rating Scheme (HHRSS) to identify hazards. To prepare schedules, notices and remedial information for service on owners/occupiers/tenants as appropriate to remedy faults and hazards.
- To support other housing work in relation to fire risk assessments and asbestos surveys and inspections.
- Take appropriate action following inspections including the preparation of reports, correspondence and notices and undertaking revisits to ensure compliance.
- To Investigate complaints regarding housing conditions and take appropriate action.
- To accurately maintain registers, record actions taken and assist with the completion of statistical information when required.
- To maintain professional competence and provide support and guidance to colleagues.
- Work outside the normal hours of work as and when required for the proper execution of the Council’s duties. Assist with out-of-hours duties and if the Council has to deal with the results of a civil emergency.

About you:
- Be qualified to B/TEC in Construction or similar and have experience of housing inspections including the Housing Health and Safety Rating Scheme
- A good knowledge of Building Construction, the Decent Homes Standard and undertake training on Fire Risk Assessments, asbestos surveys and other training when needed.
- Able to communicate clearly and deal with vulnerable tenants as well as able to work unsupervised.
- Ability to work as part of a team and produce reports.
- Full driving licence and use of a car to travel throughout the district. Ability to climb ladders and access roof spaces.
